ST ANN, Jamaica — A Brown’s Town business is at the center of an alleged theft scandal as one of its employees faces charges for misappropriating company funds totaling over $280,000.

Arland Martin, a 54-year-old resident of the area, is accused of accessing and removing cash from the establishment’s vault on multiple occasions. The irregularities were first flagged by the company’s management, who noticed significant discrepancies during routine financial checks.

Initial findings revealed separate shortages of $140,300 in October and $146,000 in December. Further investigation, supported by security camera footage, implicated Martin in the unauthorized access to the vault, according to local authorities.

Law enforcement acted swiftly after receiving a report, leading to Martin’s arrest. He has since been charged and is awaiting a court date, which remains to be finalized.

The incident has sparked discussions among local businesses regarding the importance of robust internal controls and security measures to prevent similar occurrences. The case remains under active investigation.

This new angle focuses on the broader implications for local businesses, emphasizing the need for vigilance while keeping the specific details intact.
