MANDEVILLE, Jamaica – The Rotary Club of Mandeville is preparing to step onto a new playing field—literally. On August 24, the club will host its first-ever Charity Golf Tournament, an event designed to marry sport, camaraderie, and lifesaving purpose.
This year’s cause extends far beyond the green. The proceeds will fund the placement of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) across Manchester, bringing critical emergency tools to schools, town centers, and at-risk communities.
A New Chapter in Service
For more than sixty years, the Rotary Club of Mandeville has shaped community life in ways both quiet and profound. From youth mentorship to health initiatives, its projects have consistently targeted the gaps that leave people vulnerable. The AED campaign is the latest expression of that tradition—one that directly addresses the rising need for rapid-response health infrastructure.
“Every second matters when a heart stops,” the club emphasized in announcing the initiative. “We want Manchester to be a parish where help is always close, where lives are not lost simply because equipment wasn’t available.”
Beyond Fundraising: Building Preparedness
The project is not limited to installing devices. It includes training school personnel and community members to operate the AEDs confidently and effectively. The goal is to create a network of first responders woven directly into everyday public life.
Call for Partnerships
The golf tournament is open to players of all levels, but the true competition lies in mobilizing broad support. Businesses, civic organizations, and individuals are being urged to participate—whether through sponsorship, donations, or team entries.
As the tee-off date approaches, the Rotary Club is making its mission plain: every swing of the club, every ball struck, will contribute to protecting the heartbeat of Manchester.
