ST ANN, Jamaica — With campaign boots firmly on the ground, Dr Ryan Simpson, the People’s National Party candidate for St Ann North Eastern, is making it clear: this election is not business as usual.
Emerging from the Nomination Centre on Wharf Street with paperwork sealed and confidence intact, Simpson delivered a pointed message — not to his opponents, but to the undecided.
“Neutrality,” he said, “is no longer harmless. Choosing not to choose is still a choice — one that protects everything Jamaicans claim they’re fed up of.”
Simpson’s remarks landed as both a challenge and a rallying cry. The political climate, he noted, is fragile — not only nationally, but right at home in North Eastern St Ann, where residents are weighing hope against habit.
“Good governance doesn’t materialize by magic,” Simpson stated. “It takes courageous citizens backing leaders who aren’t here for optics, but outcomes.”
With Nomination Day behind him and Election Day looming on September 3, Simpson positioned himself not just as a contender, but as a necessary shift in direction.
“This isn’t about me,” he added. “It’s about a people tired of waiting for change, ready to vote it in.”
As the race accelerates, Simpson’s play is clear: push the uncommitted off the fence — and onto the ballot.
