Residents of the quiet West End district in Gordon Pen, St Catherine, were left stunned this week as 21-year-old labourer Falcon Gayle was officially charged in connection with a gun-related confrontation that reportedly took place at a local event earlier this year.
The incident, which occurred in April during what was described as a routine community gathering, escalated rapidly when a disagreement between two attendees took a dangerous turn. Authorities allege that Gayle, who was not directly involved in the initial dispute, left the event only to return moments later armed.
According to investigators, Gayle discharged a shot aimed at a male individual involved in the argument. The shot missed its target, and the man fled the scene unharmed. Gayle is then accused of turning the weapon on a woman—allegedly the second party in the earlier quarrel—while issuing verbal threats.
Following weeks of investigation, law enforcement executed a strategic operation on Monday, resulting in Gayle’s arrest. He was later questioned in the presence of legal representation and formally charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and assault at common law.
He is scheduled to make his first court appearance at the St Catherine Parish Court on Friday, July 25.
Local authorities have reiterated calls for community cooperation in reporting illegal firearms, stating that public vigilance remains a crucial tool in reducing violent incidents across the parish.
