Sabina Park, Kingston — The second morning of the third Test opened with promise for the home side, but Australia’s attack refused to loosen its grip. By the first interval, West Indies had navigated their way to 73-3 in response to Australia’s modest 225, leaving the Caribbean outfit 152 runs adrift.

  • Scoreboard Snapshot
    • West Indies 73-3
      • John Campbell 31* (steady, 63 balls)
      • Mikyle Louis 2*
    • Key Dismissals:
      • Brandon King 14 (Hazlewood, rising length that kissed the edge)
      • Roston Chase 18 (Cummins, classic channel outside off)
    • Yet to Bat: Shai Hope, Justin Greaves, Jomel Warrican, Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Jayden Seales

Australia struck early. Josh Hazlewood, operating with relentless accuracy, accounted for Brandon King inside seven overs, trimming the overnight 16-1 to a nervy 28-2. Captain Roston Chase then partnered John Campbell in a 30-run stand that briefly steadied proceedings before Pat Cummins coaxed a regulation catch to Usman Khawaja, sending the skipper back for 18.

Campbell, unhurried and unflappable, has been the glue. His 31* has come with minimal fuss, even as wickets tumbled at the other end. Newcomer Mikyle Louis, on debut nerves and two not out, will re-emerge after the break hoping to settle.

For the visitors, Cummins and Hazlewood have hunted in tandem, extracting just enough life from the surface to keep West Indian ambitions in check. With Kevlon Anderson already back in the pavilion for three late on day one, the hosts’ middle order now carries the burden of narrowing the gap before Australia’s second dig.

Lunch may have given the West Indian dressing room a breather, but the equation remains stark: 152 runs in arrears, seven wickets in hand, and Australia smelling blood. A session of discipline—or disaster—awaits.
