Kingston — Carnival season got a fresh twist on Thursday as Xodus Tailgate reimagined the party scene, swapping high-glamour expectations for a casual, street-style celebration rooted in freedom and spontaneity.
Rather than traditional stage shows or restricted VIP sections, attendees built their own experiences. Coolers, folding chairs, food stands, and dance circles took over the venue, as crowds moved fluidly from grilling sessions to quick soca-driven dance-offs.
“It’s refreshing,” said one reveler. “No pressure, no dress code — just vibes. You create the party you want.”
Kamal Bankay, Executive Director of Xodus, explained that the concept was designed to let patrons feel unshackled from typical event formulas. “It’s a platform for people to bring their own energy. Everyone becomes part of the show, not just the audience.”
As night fell, it wasn’t headline acts or elaborate stages stealing the spotlight — it was the crowd itself, turning a simple idea into one of Carnival’s most memorable nights.
