For decades, Gramps Morgan has been known as a powerful voice within reggae’s royal family, Morgan Heritage. Now, he’s stepping out alone in a way he never has before—headlining his own United States tour.
The “No Water in My Whiskey Tour” begins September 25 and stretches across 21 cities. Stops range from the urban pulse of Brooklyn, New York to the southern rhythms of Mississippi and Texas, to the Midwest soundscapes of Minnesota. Each city offers Morgan a chance to test his music in fresh territory.
Building His Own Stage
Unlike past appearances where he joined giants such as Buju Banton or shared billing with Morgan Heritage, this run positions Morgan squarely at the center.
“This is about creating my own touring identity in America,” he explained. “I’ve played supporting roles before, but people have been asking for the full show. Now, I’m ready to give it to them.”
Personal High Notes
Among the 21 stops, Brooklyn holds special meaning. Born there, Morgan views the city as a return to his roots and a reunion with one of the largest Caribbean communities in the world. At the same time, cities like Bay St. Louis and San Antonio represent new frontiers.
Family and Future
Adding to the journey, Morgan’s sons Priel and Jermere are also part of the lineup, sharing the stage and carrying forward a family legacy of music. Local performers will join in at select venues, giving the tour a collaborative spirit.
Giving Back Through Strings
Morgan isn’t only sharing songs—he’s also putting instruments in young hands. Partnering with Free Guitars 4 Kids, he plans to donate 15 guitars along the way.
“Music has shaped my entire life,” he said. “Kids today spend so much time online. I want to show them what happens when you connect with an instrument instead of a screen. A guitar can change a life.”
A Global Lesson
Morgan’s recent voyage on Japan’s Far East Reggae Cruise reminded him of reggae’s reach well beyond the Caribbean. For him, the U.S. tour is another chance to expand that reach, this time in a market he’s only scratched the surface of.
The Start of a New Era
Gramps Morgan’s name has long been tied to family and tradition. This tour signals something different: a personal leap. Twenty-one nights across America will determine how far his solo star can shine, and for Morgan, that challenge is the point.
