In a landmark move to bolster public safety initiatives, the National Commercial Bank (NCB) has unveiled a new three-year plan to invest $7.5 million in collaboration with Crime Stop Jamaica. This renewed alliance, marking its 17th year, is part of a broader effort to proactively prevent criminal activities before they escalate.

The partnership has already seen a cumulative investment of $24.8 million over previous years, underpinning its significant role in combating crime across the nation. By leveraging innovative strategies and community engagement, the initiative aims to shift the focus from post-crime response to pre-emptive measures that can curtail criminal operations at their source.

Sandra Glasgow, Chair of Crime Stop Jamaica, explained the importance of evolving from reactionary tactics to preventive solutions. “Our work is all about stopping crime in its tracks. With NCB’s continued support, we are better equipped to innovate and reduce losses from fraud and other criminal activities by a substantial margin,” Glasgow stated.

Over the past 35 years, Crime Stop Jamaica’s anonymous tip system has proven to be a powerful tool for law enforcement. The confidential platform has been instrumental in solving more than 33,000 cases, facilitating nearly 3,000 arrests, and recovering stolen assets worth approximately $336 million. This record underscores the impact of a collective effort in safeguarding communities.

Denver Frater, NCB’s Chief Security Officer, highlighted the broader implications of this partnership: “Crime isn’t just an issue for law enforcement—it affects businesses, individuals, and the overall economic health of our nation. By working closely with Crime Stop Jamaica, we are reinforcing our commitment to protect our customers and the community. This collaborative approach is crucial in mitigating risks posed by both traditional crimes and emerging cyber threats.”

NCB is calling on the public to utilize Crime Stop Jamaica’s secure and anonymous channels to report suspicious activities. The bank believes that every tip can contribute to a safer environment, encouraging more citizens and organizations to join in this essential fight against crime.

This renewed partnership is not only a testament to the shared dedication of financial and community leaders but also a clear signal of a proactive stance against the evolving landscape of criminal activity in Jamaica.
