In response to recent speculation about reggae artist Koffee’s career, veteran music executive Ferdy Unger-Hamilton has dismissed claims that she was dropped by RCA Records. The former Columbia Records UK president, who has played a pivotal role in the careers of multiple chart-topping artists, confirmed that Koffee remains signed to Promised Land Records.
The rumors, which spread rapidly online, suggested that the Grammy-winning artist had been cut loose by RCA. However, Unger-Hamilton clarified that Koffee was never directly signed to RCA or Columbia, stating, “Koffee has always been signed to Promised Land Records. Our partnership with Sony ended over two years ago, and we are now distributed through Virgin.”
Koffee’s acclaimed projects, including the 2019 Rapture EP and her 2022 album Gifted, were released under Promised Land Records. The label previously had a distribution agreement with RCA and Columbia but now operates independently under Virgin’s distribution network.
A key figure in the UK music industry, Unger-Hamilton’s career includes successful tenures at Polydor, Island Records, and Columbia, where he contributed to the rise of stars such as Ellie Goulding, The 1975, and Rag’n’Bone Man. His leadership at Promised Land Records continues to shape the careers of emerging and established talent.
While he remained tight-lipped about upcoming releases, Unger-Hamilton assured fans that Koffee is actively working on new material. “New music is coming soon,” he said, offering a hint at what’s next for the reggae star.
Born Mikayla Simpson in Spanish Town, Jamaica, Koffee has become a global ambassador for modern reggae, blending her signature sound with socially conscious lyrics. With a Grammy win and a growing international audience, she continues to push the genre forward.
As the music industry evolves, Koffee’s position remains strong, proving that talent and authenticity endure beyond industry rumors.
