KINGSTON, Jamaica – For reggae artist StaceyAnn, music has always been a part of her soul, but a devastating health battle nearly silenced her voice forever. Now, with renewed strength and an unshakable determination, she’s stepping back into the spotlight—this time, on her own terms.
In late 2022, StaceyAnn’s world turned upside down when she faced a severe health crisis. What began as a routine illness quickly spiraled into something far more serious, leaving her gasping for air and struggling to find answers. Multiple hospitalizations in both Jamaica and the U.S. offered no clarity, and the uncertainty became her greatest fear.
“I felt trapped in my own body,” she said. “Doctors couldn’t tell me why I was deteriorating. I was living in fear, wondering if I would ever get better, if I would ever sing again.”
Her turning point came during a particularly harrowing hospital stay in Annotto Bay, where she witnessed a patient take their last breath. It was a wake-up call.
“I realized I had a choice—stay afraid or fight for my life,” she recalled. “I chose to fight.”
Armed with determination, she took control of her health, seeking advice from medical specialists, researching treatments, and making crucial lifestyle changes. After nearly two years, she finally began to feel like herself again.
But something had shifted. Having faced the possibility of never singing again, StaceyAnn made a vow: she would never take her voice for granted.
This realization birthed her latest single, Life (Choose to Stay), an emotional powerhouse that channels her journey into raw, heartfelt lyrics. Released in February, the song has resonated deeply with listeners, many of whom have shared their own struggles with her.
“The messages I’ve received are overwhelming,” she said. “People tell me the song makes them cry, that it reminds them of their own battles and gives them hope. That’s what music is supposed to do.”
StaceyAnn’s journey with music started long before this chapter. Growing up between Marlie Mount, Old Harbour, and Mitchell Town, Clarendon, she was drawn to music from an early age. She vividly remembers standing on a stage as a six-year-old, performing on a whim at a local event and captivating the crowd. From that moment, she knew music was her calling.
Though she pursued higher education at the University of Phoenix, her love for songwriting never faded. In 2020, she co-wrote Love, Wonderful, Love alongside Sanchez, later featured on the album HeartCrafted. Encouraged by producer Bulby York and Solomon “Triple Ess” Salmon, she released her first solo track, Hear Oh Lord, in 2023.
Now, with a new perspective and unstoppable drive, she is working on her debut EP, promising music that blends reggae with international influences.
“My music isn’t just about entertainment—it’s about connection, storytelling, and emotion,” she said. “When I perform, I become my truest self. No fear, no hesitation—just music.”
With upcoming performances and projects in the works, StaceyAnn is making sure her second act is bigger and bolder than ever.
“I have so much more to share. This is just the beginning,” she teased. “Stay connected with me on social media @staceymirander—there’s a lot more coming!”
From battling silence to reclaiming her voice, StaceyAnn’s story is one of resilience, transformation, and the undeniable power of music.
