The 2025 Coveside Concert series roared to life at Plantation Cove on Saturday, proving that great music can triumph over even the longest delays. What started as a test of patience turned into a powerful showcase of reggae’s finest, delivering a night filled with soul, energy, and timeless hits.
Kicking off the performances was the legendary Luciano, whose commanding presence and deep-rooted messages of faith and unity set the tone for the night. Dressed in his signature regal attire, The Messenger took the audience on a journey through classics like Give Praise and Serve Jah. But it wasn’t just about the music—his heartfelt calls for perseverance and belief resonated deeply, turning the venue into a sea of raised hands and voices singing in unison.
The momentum only grew when Gramps Morgan took the stage. Infusing his set with both nostalgia and fresh emotion, he honored his late brother Peetah Morgan while performing Down By The River alongside his son Jemere and brother Mojo. He then transitioned into his signature solo hits, bringing the crowd to its feet with Woman Like You and People Like You. But the night’s most touching moment came when he introduced his young son, who had once been told he would never walk. Defying all odds, the boy stepped onto the stage, receiving a thunderous standing ovation.
Barrington Levy closed the night with an electrifying performance that left no room for stillness. From Under Mi Sensi to Here I Come, he commanded the stage with the ease of a seasoned showman. The audience, eager for more, pulled him into multiple encores, proving that reggae’s magic is alive and well.
Despite its late start, the event was nothing short of extraordinary. Organizer Vonni Koromanti reflected on the night’s success, saying, “Reggae is more than music—it’s a movement, and tonight was a testament to its power.”
With a lineup of legends and a crowd that refused to let the night end, the Coveside Concert series has cemented itself as a must-see event for 2025.
