KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaican Government remains steadfast in its commitment to building a world-class civil service, one that continually evolves to meet the demands of a fast-changing global landscape, says Minister of Finance and Public Service, Fayval Williams.
Addressing attendees at the Jamaica Civil Service Long Service Awards Ceremony held at King’s House on Wednesday, Williams underscored the importance of innovation and adaptability in public service. “Our goal is to ensure that the public sector not only meets but exceeds global standards of service delivery,” she said.
The Minister emphasized that in order to achieve excellence, the civil service must continuously improve its operational systems and embrace new approaches. “Efficiency must be at the core of our operations, and we must never stop thinking creatively to better serve the people of Jamaica,” she noted.
Celebrating the accomplishments of the awardees, Williams pointed out that they represent the highest standards in public service, implementing best practices across various government ministries, departments, and agencies. These individuals have demonstrated an unwavering dedication to public good and have contributed significantly to the development of Jamaica’s infrastructure and services.
Techa Clarke Griffiths, President of the Jamaica Civil Service Association (JCSA), also praised the awardees for their exceptional service. “Your dedication has set a new benchmark for public service, and your work continues to inspire future generations of civil servants,” she said. “The legacy you’ve built is one of integrity, professionalism, and an enduring commitment to national development.”
A total of 497 civil servants were honored at the ceremony for their exceptional service, each of them having contributed 25 years or more to the nation. The citations presented highlighted the significant roles they have played in shaping Jamaica’s civil service and advancing public sector transformation.
As the public sector embraces technological advancements and a more interconnected approach to governance, the Government is confident that the commitment of these long-serving civil servants will continue to inspire change and innovation within the Jamaican civil service.
