WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — A man previously out on bail for firearm-related charges has been arrested and charged again under the new Firearms Act.

On Tuesday, 25-year-old Renaldo Richards was taken into custody at the Savanna-la-Mar Police Station, where he was reporting as part of his bail conditions. He is now facing new charges linked to a shooting that occurred in the parish on Friday, September 6.

According to the police, Richards is accused of opening fire on a taxi in Bastard Cedar Walk, Petersfield, Westmoreland, as it was in the process of picking up passengers. The shooting resulted in two individuals being injured.

Richards is now charged with two counts of wounding with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, and using a firearm to commit a felony. This follows his previous charge for unauthorized possession of ammunition.
