SANDY BAY, Hanover – A 30-year-old man from Sandy Bay, identified as Ian Buchanan, has been arrested and charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and robbery with violence following a reported attack on a woman at her home on Friday.
The incident occurred around 1:26 pm when Buchanan allegedly visited the woman’s residence uninvited. According to police reports, the woman requested that Buchanan leave, but he refused. A heated argument ensued, during which Buchanan is accused of physically assaulting the woman, leaving her with visible bruises and swelling.
Following the assault, Buchanan allegedly stole the woman’s purse, which contained money and personal belongings, before fleeing the scene.
The victim later reported the incident to the police, who apprehended Buchanan. He was positively identified by the woman and formally charged. Authorities are currently working to schedule his court appearance.
