KINGSTON, Jamaica — Three employees of Massy Distribution Limited in St Andrew are currently under investigation following the suspected theft of goods valued at approximately $4 million. The alleged theft took place at the company’s Carifta Avenue location and was uncovered during an informal audit.

According to reports, discrepancies in the inventory raised suspicions, prompting an internal investigation. On Monday, August 26, 2024, the company’s manager, along with other senior staff members, reviewed CCTV footage as part of the investigation.

The CCTV recordings reportedly showed the suspects loading a substantial amount of products, including Enfamil and Alacta baby formulas, as well as other items, into a company van. The van was then observed leaving the company premises. It is understood that the employees involved were not authorized to remove these items, and no payments or accounting records were found to justify the missing goods.

A preliminary inventory check revealed that products such as Enfamil, Alacta, Jergens lotion, Amnens powder, and other items, totaling around $4 million in value, were unaccounted for. The investigation is ongoing, and the company is working closely with authorities to determine the full extent of the theft and to ensure that appropriate actions are taken against those involved.

This incident highlights the importance of stringent internal controls and regular audits in preventing and detecting fraudulent activities within companies. Massy Distribution Limited is expected to implement enhanced security measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
