About to embark on his inaugural trip to Jamaica, a place he’s long heard about for its vibrant culture and delectable cuisine. His visit will coincide with the highly anticipated Mindset Conference, taking place from May 20-22 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston.
This year marks a significant milestone for Pastor Gray, as he celebrates 30 years in ministry. He is eager to bring his message of transformation to the conference attendees.
“Expect an engaging worship experience, filled with moments of joy, reflection, and spiritual renewal. We aim to shift mindsets, helping individuals overcome past mistakes and embrace their potential. When your mind is renewed, everything else in your life can fall into place. My goal is to reset perspectives, preparing everyone for the great things God has planned for them,” he said.
Pastor Gray recounted his call to ministry, which began at the tender age of 13 during a revival service at his childhood church, Bethel Baptist in Cincinnati, Ohio. He described how he didn’t choose ministry—it chose him. “I was called to this path by God. I wasn’t among those who dreamed of becoming a preacher, but I knew from a young age that this was my calling. Since then, I’ve been dedicated to walking in that calling,” he shared.
His journey in gospel music has been equally transformative. Singing with the gospel choir at the University of Cincinnati and later touring with gospel artist Kirk Franklin opened his eyes to the profound impact of gospel music beyond church settings. “These experiences have been incredibly rewarding, providing lifelong friendships and showing me the power of gospel music to reach and uplift people,” he added.
Pastor Gray has also played a significant role in the life of Jamaican Delroy Escoffery, the visionary behind the Mindset Conference. “Delroy is an exceptionally talented and creative individual. I hope my example of integrating ministry with entrepreneurship has inspired him. It’s about showing that one can thrive in various pursuits while remaining committed to faith,” Pastor Gray explained.
In addition to his ministry work, Pastor Gray and his wife have been involved in television, including hosting shows on the Oprah Winfrey Network and Christian television channels in the US. His non-profit organization, John Gray Ministries, has made a tangible impact, particularly during Hurricane Harvey in Houston, where they provided substantial aid to affected communities.
Reflecting on his work, Pastor Gray said, “The most rewarding aspect of my ministry is witnessing lives transformed by the word of God. There’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing people’s spirits lifted and their lives changed through our work.”
As Pastor Gray prepares for his Jamaican debut, the anticipation is high for his contributions to the Mindset Conference and the meaningful impact he’s set to make.
