Sabina Park is transforming from cricket landmark to twilight theatre ahead of Saturday’s historic day-night Test between the West Indies and Australia. Sport Minister Olivia Grange has confirmed that engineers have completed the laser-level calibration of the newly installed flood-lighting grid—sign-off from Cricket West Indies’ independent specialist arrived late Wednesday, clearing the final technical hurdle.

Behind the bowler’s arm, a towering LED scoreboard is already pulsing with colour, while a smaller companion display is receiving its software upload and will be fully live before the first pink ball is bowled. Together they will deliver crystal-clear data long after sunset.

Minister Grange framed the upgrades as more than hardware tweaks—they’re stage lights for a Caribbean statement. “The technology is locked in; now it’s time for Kingston to light up the stands,” she said, urging fans to turn Sabina Park into a fortress of maroon fervour.

With infrastructure certified and anticipation peaking, Saturday’s opening session promises not just cricket, but a showcase of Jamaica’s readiness to host marquee events under the evening sky.
