Rocketship Courier Services Limited is making a decisive push to solidify its presence in Jamaica’s logistics industry with the acquisition of Reliable Courier Jamaica, a move that signals its ambition to control a larger share of the market.
The deal brings together two fast-growing players in the courier sector, combining Rocketship’s established network with Reliable’s operational footprint in key locations, including Kingston, Portmore, May Pen, and Old Harbour. The acquisition is expected to boost Rocketship’s delivery capacity, offering customers faster and more efficient package handling.
While Rocketship has yet to disclose financial details of the acquisition, industry insiders speculate that the move is part of a broader strategy to enhance last-mile delivery and optimize warehouse efficiency. One of the immediate changes includes the integration of Reliable Courier’s customer base into Rocketship’s upgraded tracking system, promising real-time updates and a more seamless shipping experience.
This expansion follows Rocketship’s recent capital-raising efforts, where CEO Orane Edwards emphasized the company’s aggressive growth strategy. “We are focused on expanding our network, increasing operational efficiency, and introducing new service innovations,” Edwards noted in a statement last year.
Reliable Courier, which has been a competitor in the industry since 2019, had already been signaling changes in recent months, including a hiring spree observed as early as August 2024. The transition to Rocketship’s control is expected to be completed in phases, with full operational integration anticipated in the coming months.
With this latest move, Rocketship is positioning itself as a dominant force in Jamaica’s courier sector, setting the stage for increased competition and service improvements across the island. Whether this acquisition leads to faster deliveries and better customer experiences remains to be seen, but one thing is clear—Rocketship is not slowing down.
