ST. CATHERINE, Jamaica – In a surprising turn of events, 30-year-old Sadene Green has pleaded guilty to the 2017 murder of Fitz Albert Barnes, an 82-year-old Canadian retiree. The Portmore resident admitted her involvement during a hearing at the St. Catherine Circuit Court on Tuesday.
Barnes’ body was discovered in a gruesome scene in May 2017, found wrapped in a tarpaulin inside his home on Young Street in Spanish Town, St. Catherine. The case drew significant attention, and the Spanish Town Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) swiftly launched an investigation, eventually leading to Green’s arrest in 2018.
The autopsy confirmed that Barnes had suffered fatal injuries from multiple stab wounds and blunt-force trauma. Green is expected to return to court for sentencing on April 4, 2025.
