Falmouth United surged to the summit of Zone B in the Jamaica Football Federation Championship after a decisive 1-0 victory over St Bess United on Saturday. The hard-fought win at the Lacovia Community Centre in St Elizabeth propelled them to 10 points, level with Reno FC but ahead on goals scored.

Reno FC, who had previously led the standings, saw their perfect start to the season halted by a resilient Treasure Beach side, as they were held to a goalless draw at Llandilo Sports Complex.

Meanwhile, in Zone A, Lime Hall FC continued their dominant run with a commanding 2-0 triumph over Grays Inn at St Mary Sports Complex, securing their place at the top with 10 points. Carlos Campbell broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute before Ronaldo Hanson sealed the win with a clinical finish in the 60th minute.

Duncans United also made a strong statement in Zone B, climbing to third place with a 2-0 win against Mount Pleasant FA Juniors at Drax Hall. Terron Eccleston opened the scoring in the 28th minute, and Javaun Jarrett put the game beyond reach with a stoppage-time goal.

Meadforest FC showcased remarkable resilience in their encounter against Tru-Juice at Dinthill Technical in Linstead. Despite trailing 2-0 after goals from Damion Herrera and Curtel Lawes, Meadforest fought back with a goal in the 68th minute before Raheem Porter struck a crucial equalizer in the 74th. Tru-Juice finished the game with just nine players following red cards to Dayshaniel Russell and Seivon Thompson.

Elsewhere, Baptist Alliance completed a stunning comeback to edge Spanish Town Police 2-1 at Royal Lakes Sports Complex. Shemar Harris had given Spanish Town Police the lead just before halftime, but Rodian Reece turned the tide with two late goals in the 80th and 86th minutes to hand Baptist Alliance the victory.

Lynch Park played host to a high-scoring thriller between Portlanders FC and Progressive FC. Portlanders FC secured their first win of the season with a dramatic 4-3 result, thanks to a stunning hat-trick from Kerone George. George’s early dominance saw him score in the 6th, 13th, and 18th minutes, giving his team a 3-1 advantage. O’Brien Reid of Progressive FC responded with a hat-trick of his own, but Portlanders held on for the crucial win, with Cardiff McKenzie adding the decisive goal in the 89th minute.

Petersfield FC also celebrated their first win of the season, defeating Holland PYC 2-0 at Lacovia Community Centre. Goals from O’Shawn Neil and Deno Whyte secured a well-earned three points for Petersfield.

With the season heating up and teams jostling for position, the race for supremacy in the JFF Championship promises more thrilling encounters in the coming weeks.
