A powerful 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck deep in the Caribbean Sea on Saturday evening, sending tremors across multiple nations and prompting urgent tsunami warnings for several coastal areas.

The quake, which occurred approximately 130 miles off the Cayman Islands, was recorded at a shallow depth, intensifying its impact. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) confirmed the seismic event, while the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) issued alerts for possible tsunami waves within a 620-mile radius of the epicenter.

Countries including Jamaica, Cuba, Mexico, Honduras, the Bahamas, Belize, Haiti, Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua, and Guatemala have been placed on alert, with coastal authorities monitoring sea levels for any abnormal activity.

Residents in affected regions reported feeling strong tremors, though official damage assessments are still underway. Emergency response teams are preparing for potential aftershocks and coastal flooding risks.

Governments and disaster agencies across the region have urged the public to remain vigilant and follow safety protocols, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of seismic activity in the Caribbean. More details will emerge as authorities continue their assessments.
