ST MARY, Jamaica — The peaceful community of Albion Mountain has been thrust into a state of concern following a recent spike in violent incidents. In response, a nightly curfew has been imposed to curb criminal activity and restore stability to the area.
Authorities revealed a series of unsettling events that led to the decision. These include a reported case of arson, the recovery of a 9mm Ruger pistol, and other gang-related occurrences. There has also been an unreported shooting, further complicating efforts to maintain law and order in the region.
Acting Superintendent of Police Anthony Wallace has called for residents’ full cooperation during the curfew period. “We’re taking these measures to ensure the safety of everyone in Albion Mountain. The police will carry out their duties with integrity and respect for human rights,” Wallace affirmed.
The curfew, which began earlier this week, encompasses several areas, including parts of Top Mountain near Albion Mountain Square, Trinity Land main road, Cox Street main road, and Roslyn Road. Restrictions will be enforced between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM daily until January 9.
Residents have been urged to comply with the curfew and to assist law enforcement by reporting any suspicious activities. Local officials stress that these measures are critical to restoring calm and deterring further criminal behavior in the community.
