MANCHESTER, Jamaica — In light of escalating violence in the Manchester area, police have ramped up security at the Porus Police Station after a social media post threatened the safety of officers stationed there. The post, which went viral on Friday, came just days after a fatal confrontation between law enforcement and a murder suspect in Ramble, close to Porus.
The suspect, known only as ‘Bagalas,’ was fatally shot during an operation responding to a double homicide at a local bar. Police seized a firearm during the incident. Sources close to law enforcement reported that tensions are running high, particularly in the Porus area, with officers being urged to stay alert and prepared for any further threats.
The viral post, which circulated widely on social media, openly challenged the police’s actions and promised retribution, warning that “there will be no peace in Porus.” The message expressed anger over Bagalas’ death and included a direct threat to attack the Porus Police Station.
The violence in the area has been increasing, with six people killed since August alone, contributing to a worrying rise in crime across the region. With 49 murders recorded in Manchester so far this year, local authorities are under increasing pressure to address the surge in criminal activity while ensuring the safety of their personnel and the public.
