KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has announced temporary traffic alterations for Sunday’s Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Annual Conference, scheduled to take place at the National Arena.

Starting at 9:00 am, Arthur Wint Drive will be converted into a one-way route heading towards the National Stadium, with vehicles directed in an easterly direction. Motorists traveling in this direction must divert left onto Roosevelt Avenue, then right onto Stanton Terrace, and continue with right turns at Mountain View Avenue and Arthur Wint Drive to access the event parking lot. Only vehicles with VIP passes will be allowed to enter Roosevelt Avenue toward the stadium, and access to Arthur Wint Drive from Mountain View Avenue will be restricted to event attendees.

The JCF further specifies that no through traffic will be permitted along Arthur Wint Drive between Gates E4 and the Bob Marley Statue at Roosevelt Avenue, as this stretch will be exclusively for pedestrians. Local residents of Mountain View Avenue heading to The Lofts Apartments can use Arthur Wint Drive for access, while residents of Stadium Gardens will have one-way access from Arthur Wint Drive in the eastbound direction.

For those attending the event, parking violations will lead to towing, and motorists are urged to park their vehicles in the direction of the post-event traffic flow to ensure a smoother departure after the event concludes.

Post-Event Traffic Flow:

  • Arthur Wint Drive, from Gate E4 to Tom Redcam Avenue, will be switched to a westbound one-way direction.
  • Roosevelt Avenue will revert to its normal traffic flow.
  • Arthur Wint Drive, from Gate E5 to Mountain View Avenue, will remain eastbound.

Motorists traveling along North and Central Avenues toward Arthur Wint Drive will only be able to make right turns onto the road. Emergency vehicles will be allowed access to these routes for operations at the Bustamante Children’s Hospital.

Latham Avenue will be restricted to one-way traffic northwest-bound towards Old Hope Road. For 45 minutes after the event, residents of Stadium Gardens will be allowed to exit the area via a left turn onto Arthur Wint Drive but will not be permitted to re-enter during that time.

The JCF advises all attendees, both motorists and pedestrians, to follow the instructions of the police and event security to ensure the smooth and safe operation of traffic during the event.
