AENON TOWN, Clarendon — As the People’s National Party (PNP) gears up for the results of the local by-elections in St. Thomas and Aenon Town, PNP leader Mark Golding reflects on the party’s dedication to addressing pressing community concerns. Speaking with local media, Golding expressed confidence that the work put into these municipal divisions will be rewarded at the polls.
“We’ve put in the time, the effort, and the energy here. From Aenon Town to St. Thomas, our presence has been consistent. Now, it’s up to the people to decide, but I feel good about what we’ve done,” said Golding, emphasizing the importance of local engagement over national distractions.
Golding also stood firm on the PNP’s decision to skip the parliamentary by-elections, citing a strategy focused on long-term local governance instead. “Our goal is to ensure the people have a real choice. We’re not distracted by the national noise,” he stated.
Addressing infrastructure concerns, Golding pointed to the severe deterioration of road networks in the Aenon Town division, calling it one of the community’s top issues. “The state of the roads here is unacceptable. We’ve seen significant investment in highways, but the interior roads that impact daily life have been neglected,” he commented. Golding pledged that the next PNP government would prioritize improving these roads to benefit everyday Jamaicans.
With general elections looming in 2025, Golding reassured the public that the PNP is fully prepared. “Whenever the election is called, we will be ready,” he declared.
