PORTMORE, Jamaica — On November 30, Portmore will come alive with energy, style, and empowerment as the 30+ Fashion Show and Expo takes over the Portmore Community College. This unique event celebrates the strength, beauty, and vibrancy of women in their 30s and beyond, offering a space where fashion meets personal growth and professional opportunity.

The 30+ Fashion Show promises to be a showcase of breathtaking designs, highlighting the creativity of local designers as they compete for a chance to present their work at the prestigious Scandinavian International Fashion (SIF) Week in Stockholm, Sweden, in 2025. With a focus on women who are redefining beauty standards and embracing their evolving selves, the event is tailored to those who want to be inspired and motivated to embrace their full potential.

Beyond the runway, the expo is set to offer much more. Attendees can look forward to insightful workshops on a range of topics, including travel, real estate, finance, and empowerment. These sessions, led by industry leaders, will equip attendees with the knowledge to excel in their personal and professional lives. In addition, the event will feature a full day of entertainment and a special ‘Black Friday Sale-a-bration,’ bringing a festive and inclusive atmosphere to the day’s proceedings.

Event creator and CEO of Compass Media, Stephanie Elliott-Gunning, shared her vision for the event. She emphasized the importance of spotlighting modern, confident women who continue to be trendsetters, leaders, and inspirations in their communities. “This event is a testament to the resilience and strength of women. It’s about creating opportunities for them to shine, not only in fashion but in all areas of life,” said Elliott-Gunning.

Her journey to this point has been a mix of setbacks and triumphs. After launching her innovative talk show concept, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted her plans. However, she remained determined. In 2019, a key partnership with Sonja Anderson, CEO of Scandinavian International Fashion Week, opened a new door for local talent. Elliott-Gunning proudly shared how she successfully introduced a Jamaican model to SIF, paving the way for future collaborations.

As the Caribbean Brand Ambassador for SIF, Elliott-Gunning is passionate about bringing international exposure to Jamaican designers and models. “This partnership has allowed us to elevate local talent and give them the global platform they deserve. With this event, we’re taking the first steps toward securing corporate support and bringing SIF to Jamaica,” she said.

The 30+ Fashion Show and Expo is not just an event, but a movement, urging Jamaican women to embrace their journeys and achieve their dreams. Elliott-Gunning invites women across the island to join the celebration: “It’s never too late to begin living your best life, and together, we’ll continue to grow, shine, and lead.”

The 30+ Fashion Show and Expo promises to be a game-changing event, blending fashion, personal growth, and empowerment, and leaving Portmore buzzing with energy long after the last runway walk.
