ST JAMES, Jamaica — A farmer from St. James has been charged in relation to a homicide that occurred in his community over two years ago.

Terry Atkinson, a 26-year-old resident of Sand Lane in German Town, now faces serious charges including murder, attempted murder, and illegal possession of a firearm. The victim, identified as Gary Morgan, was also 26 and lived in the same neighborhood.

According to police reports, the incident took place on September 4, 2022, at approximately 1:45 PM. Eyewitness accounts indicate that Atkinson was seen with a group of eight other armed men near Morgan’s property. During the encounter, gunfire erupted, prompting the witness to flee for safety. Amidst the chaos, loud gunshots were heard coming from the direction of Morgan’s residence.

When the shooting ceased, Morgan was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

On October 30, 2024, a key witness provided a statement to the police implicating Atkinson in the crime. Following this, Atkinson was apprehended and charged after a police interview held with his legal representative on November 1, 2024. He is currently awaiting a scheduled court appearance as proceedings move forward.
