KINGSTON, Jamaica — At a recent gathering of Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) representatives, Andrew Holness was confirmed as the party leader for another term, receiving an uncontested nomination.
The nomination process took place at the Pembroke Hall Community Centre, located in the St Andrew North Western constituency. Juliet Cuthbert Flynn, MP for St Andrew West Rural, initiated the nomination, and Dwayne Smith, who is set to represent St Andrew North Western after Dr. Nigel Clarke steps down, seconded the motion.
In addition to Holness’s nomination, Desmond McKenzie, MP for Kingston Western, was also re-elected unopposed to his role as Deputy Leader. These nominations signal a unified stance within Area Council One, further stabilizing the JLP’s leadership ahead of the next year.
