Image Plus Consultants, a key player in the medical technology sector, is revisiting its strategy to stay ahead in the increasingly competitive diagnostic imaging market.

After investing in two new imaging machines last year, the company is intensifying efforts to retain its current clientele and attract new customers, especially those seeking magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and mammography services.

With a focus on reversing declining profits, CEO Kisha Anderson expressed optimism about the growing demand for MRI services in Ocho Rios. “The limited options in the area are contributing to the high demand for MRI, and our capability to perform specialized studies, such as MRI of the breast and prostate, sets us apart from other providers,” Anderson highlighted during the company’s annual general meeting.

In Kingston, the need for enhanced awareness and visibility in mammography services is evident due to stiff competition. To address this, Anderson is spearheading a plan to increase client intake for both MRI and mammography by the end of 2025. This strategy includes improving service execution, boosting referrals from private physicians and hospitals, and optimizing the patient journey—from referral to report delivery.

To strengthen its market presence, Image Plus is also focusing on enhancing its online visibility to compete effectively with rivals like Elite Diagnostic Imaging Services, Alpha Imaging Centre, and Premier Radiology. Improvements in appointment coordination, including managing requests via WhatsApp, phone calls, and the company’s website, are part of the plan. Additionally, the company aims to streamline patient registration to ensure quick turnaround and high patient satisfaction.

On the workforce front, Image Plus is investing in its staff, particularly radiographers, who face competition from both local and international employers. The company supports professional development through specialized training, such as transitioning to sonography or enhancing MRI skills. “This investment in our staff not only boosts their engagement and growth but also aligns their salaries with Government standards,” Anderson noted.

Founded in February 2006 under the name Apex X-ray and Ultrasound Services, Image Plus Consultants has expanded from its initial location at 2a Molynes Road in St Andrew to four sites, offering services including MRIs, ultrasounds, X-rays, and CT scans.

As it aims to improve its financial performance, Image Plus is also planning to build a new headquarters on Lady Musgrave Road in Kingston. Discussions on financing the projected four-storey building will take place at the board level in the near future.

In the meantime, the company is actively exploring acquisition opportunities to further its growth.
